For men and women interested in improving their lovemaking, it is essential that they should have knowledge of the male and female sex organs.

The Male Sex Organs
The testicles (or the testes) are the primary male sex organs as they produce sperms (male reproductive cells). They are ovalshaped glands, and are situated in a bag of skin called scrotum. Though of a very complicated structure, the testicles are basically made up of semi-coiled tubes. It is in the lining of these tubes that sperms are manufactured. At puberty (which in the case of boys starts around the age 14 years) the testicles start producing sperms. Thereafter, the production of sperms continues almost throughout the adult life of man. The rate of sperm production is colossal indeed; each normal discharge of semen contains between 200 to 500 miffion sperms.

The sperms produced in the testicles are passed on to two fine tubes known as epididymes. These lie in the scrotum, one beside each testicle. Each epididymis becomes a wider tube known as a deferent duct. The two deferent ducts transport sperms from the epididymes to two bladders known as seminal vesicles. In the seminal vesicles the sperms get mixed with certain secretions which come from the prostate gland and the Cowper's glands. The mixture thus formed is known as semen. The secretion which comes from the prostate gland makes the sperms motile (i.e. capable of motion) so that they can move up the female reproductive tube. The other secretions keep the sperms active and in a healthy state.

From the seminal vesicles semen is finally passed out of the body through the urethra. This is a long tube, and its last part passes through the centre of the penis; hence its opening to the outside is at the tip of the penis. Besides semen. urine too is passed out of the males body through the urethra. It enters the urethra through another opening, and comes from the urinary bladder. It should be noted that the epididymes, the deferent ducts and the urethra form a continuous tube-work through which sperms are passed from the testicles to the outside of the body.

A word about Cowper's glands. During sexual excitement, when the penis becomes erect, these glands release in a very small quantity a colourless, odourless and slippery fluid which travels up the urethra and spreads around the tip of the penis. This makes the insertion of the penis into the vagina of a woman easier and painless. (The vagina of a woman, too, is lubricated by a secretion from a gland inside her.)
